Springboro HS Varsity Hockey is kicking off HOCKEY WEEKEND ACROSS AMERICA with another Youth Hockey Night at the last SHS Varsity Game.

This is Senior Night also and the SHA Youth Hockey 8U/DL players will be scrimmaging between the 2nd and 3rd periods.

All Youth hockey players wearing their favorite team jersey will be admitted with one parent FREE of charge!

SPRINGBORO – SHA (Springboro Hockey Association) asks the Dayton area to log on to www.reebokhockey.com and vote for SHA’s Hockey Rocks Video. The one-minute video features SHA youth hockey players and families during a practice session. It has been voted into the semi-finals of a national, online contest hosted by Reebok. Reebok will award hockey equipment and other prizes to the winners.

The Springboro group’s video is only one step away from the contest finals. If you would like to help support SHA youth hockey, go to www.reebokhockey.com. At the top of the page, click "Reebok Hockey Insider" and then click "Register." Once registered with an email address, visitors can view “Hockey Rocks” videos and vote for “SHA Hockey Rocks!” There is also a prize entry for those who vote in the online contest.

Due to the number of registrations we've received, SHA hockey will be combining the 8U House & 8U Developmental teams. The two will hold all practices together, but the Developmental players will not participate in the games unless their coaches and parents deem them "ready".

Once again SHA hockey will be marching in the Springboro Christmas Festival Parade. This years parade will start at 12:00PM on Saturday, November 21, 2009.

Here is the SHA Bantam Travel Team practice schedule for September and Early October as it stands right now. All at South Metro. Please contact Coach Berry if you are unable to make a practice. Everyone bring a dark and a white jersey as we may assign jersey colors for some of our competetive drills.

Please arrive in time to be warmed up and ready to get on the ice on time. We will go over our practice plan with the team 5 to 10 minutes prior to getting on the ice. This will allow us to best utilize the time we have on the ice. Looking forward to a great season!

SHA Hockey follows the USA Hockey recommendations for age classifications, and will have the following break-down this year:

• 8 & Under (Mites)
• 10 & Under (Squirts)
• 12 & Under (PeeWee)
• 18 & Under (Highschool Club Team)

SHA is a member or the a member of the Midwest Youth Hockey League (MYHL).

SHA Hockey's Learn to play hockey program is for players between the ages of 4 and 14 who would like to try the sport of ice hockey without the time and money investment required with a full season.

The $99 fee includes ice time and instruction. The program runs August 30th through October 4th. All sessions will be held locally at South Metro Ice on Austin Pike.

Boys and girls ages eight and under can explore hockey or get additional experience in SHA’s Development League. Registration runs through October for the league, which will begin in early November.
